Will Smith turns the big 4-0 today and also announces he will be starring in an I am Legend Prequel. It will be directed by Francis Lawrence again, and D.B. Weiss has been roped in to write a script that is based on a detailed outline that was hatched over the past few months by Smith, Goldsman, Lassiter and Lawrence.
The prequel will give an account of the final days of humanity in New York before a man-made virus caused a plague that left Smith's character the lone survivor among a mutated mob in the city. He also is set to star in The Last Pharaoh as Taharqa, the last Pharaoh of the 25th or Nubian Dynasty (the one in which blacks of Ethiopian descent ran Egypt). Sounds like Mr. Smith will continue to reign over the box office...
